Plenty of Smiles

Eden was bright and cheery this morning (her usual disposition.) We were overjoyed by her laughter and enjoyment of the toy kitchen in the playroom, watching the fish, and reading books. She has taken a serious liking to the "cakes" as she was a good eater this morning for breakfast. She actually requested a second helping late morning (a peanut butter fold over did the trick-no "cakes" available.) After a couple of xrays, the port is confirmed to be in great condition. She had her second round of chemo today - some orally, some through the port. She is a champ at taking her oral meds. Her hemo count was down so we had our first blood transfusion. Overall we had the best day we could possibly have.




God has met our needs before we even requested or knew what they were . . . we were moved to a private room. We enjoyed getting to meet other families (we have had 2 different roommates) but the rest for the girls and the parents will be wonderful. SO OUR NEW PHONE NUMBER IS (319)353-9494. We did loose messages so if you called and we didn't return your call I apologize.


Thank you for all the prayers and visits. As you pray tonight and tomorrow please pray for:

-ease with procedures
-no "icky sicky" . . . so far she has not had any problems
- and thank him for all the wonderful staff that takes care of our Little E

  1. Oma feels better now that she's seen Eden for herself. We know she is in wonderful caring hands there, and more importantly,right in the palm of God's hand where she needs to be.

  4. You probably don't know how much your blogs mean to all of us(your hundreds of prayer warriors)! It makes our whole day better when we know Eden is doing well and things are progressing as planned. So thank you SOOO much for keeping us all updated.

    Birthday Blessings "Big Kurt". We know the best birthday present for you is to see Eden's smiles and laughter and know she is getting better! You both are just the best parents and we are thankful God is carrying you through this difficult time.

  5. I am so glad to hear that things are looking up for you Kurt, Selena, and Eden. You have been on my mind, heart, and in my prayers the last few days! What you have/are going through is not easy for anyone- BUT I KEEP REMEMBERING THAT GOD NEVER GIVES US MORE THAN WE CAN HANDLE!!! You are loved by many! Thanks for posting updates so that I can keep up even though I'm in Ames!

  6. Hi Kurt and Selena ~ I want to pass on some info to you. Don has been working with a guy on our church addition whose 13 year old son was just diagnosed last week with the same thing as Eden. His name is Dillyn Mumme and they have a carepage for him where you can go and read about his experience. I believe if you go to carepages.com you will be able to find him. His parents names are Corey and Tammy. On Tammys last post she has her email address. Thought you might like to connect with someone who is dealing with this too.   7. Hello Princess, Eden! This is Heidi here! So glad to hear that you had a good day yesteday, and am hoping for many more good days! Will you do me a favor? Will you wish your Daddy a very Happy Birthday for me? You'll have to take care of his birthday spankings for us....do you know how many to give him? Maybe Mommy can help you! Could you feel all the prayers coming from our church this morning? Everyone was praying for you! The boys keep asking about how you are. Their Grandma and Papa are here because we celebrated Trevor's birthday yesterday and then we went to Hickory Park for lunch after church today. When you get better we can go there and have one of those yummy peanut butter malts! Our treat! Better let you get some rest. Keep being such a sweet girl. We love you and Mommy and Daddy so very much and we're praying really, really hard for you and all of the people around you!

  9. Kurt, Selena & Eden - I just wanted you guys to know we have been thinking about & praying for you everyday since we heard! Lexi & Macy are showing pigs in Denver on Tuesday so I fly out tomorrow to watch them but I will be checking your blog everyday to see how things are going! The girls still remember her chewing on her Pooh honeypot costume last year for Halloween & just have to giggle!

    Wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday from the clan at work!!!! Seeing Eden get better will be the best present you could get, so that is what we are all praying for!!!     Thank you so much for keeping us posted through this blog. We are blessed to read about the strength and joy God is providing! We love you so much, and are continuing to pray. We drove through IC today on our way home from camp with high schoolers and had the chance to hear from them the ways they have been praying for Eden.

    Just wanted to let you know that we are praying for your beautiful little girl, Eden. We have a Granddaughter who will be 2 on March 2nd, so this really hits home for us. I know Eden will be healed completely. You have so many people praying for you, and the University hospital is excellent. She is in good hands. May God give you the strength, faith and peace that passes all understanding. We will continue to check the blog daily, and pray without ceasing.

    We were so sorry to hear about Eden's diagnosis, your mom called on Wed to let us know and we have been praying ever since. We also put it on our church prayer chain, so you have lots of prayer warriors.
    Jessyca just sent me the address to your blog, thanks so much for taking the time to write the updates, it keeps everyone up to date and it saves you from answering tons of calls because everyone wants to know just how little Eden is doing.
