Thursday

Bridget, one of Selena's co-work's daughter, watched Eden today. I am not sure about Bridget, but Eden crashed hard tonight and is sleeping like a worn out 2 yr old. Evidence of sidewalk chalk decorating the driveway and white sand on the porch indicates that the girls had a good time today. Eden appears to be feeling well, even after the additional chemo she received this week, so we're very thankful for that.

June 13th will bring an event to town that we've been apart of for years, but now it hits a little closer to home - Relay for Life. Karen VanOsdol's "WE Team" is doing a fun fund raiser by "flocking". Family's that make up our team take flocks of plastic pink flamingos around and stake them in peoples yard for 24 hrs in hopes that the home owners will donate a little something to the cause. Anyways, tonight we flocked two of our friend's yards, and Eden had a ball helping! Her job was to take mom the metal wires to hold up the "birds", meanwhile, good old dad was instructed to "hold my bowl of Life cereal". Dad says "can you say please"? Eden looks at me and says "please daddy". "Sure" I say. (it was a decent gig for me!)

Often times I wonder how Eden really feels. I say this because so much of the time she appears to be a normal kid, then occasionally she shows stints of not feeling good. She's obviously one little fighter. I just pray that her mom and I and her Dr's do the best job we can to give her the best chance possible to beat this crazy thing we call cancer.

  1. You are both doing the best job possible along with her doctors. There is no question in my mine from what you have written and in knowing you for the years that I have. One of the major issues is the unknowns, and they are many. You can only make the best decisions with the information you have at the time you make the decision. After the fact it's easy to look back and say we may have done this different if we had known - but no one did know at the time. Everyone in treatment reacts a little different with some days better than others. There are alot of things that will change in your lives having to go through what you going through. Look for the positive in every situation as I think you are both doing. It just doesn't seem fair for a 2 year old to have to go through this. The fight is worth it. Hope to see your D & M along with Al T tonight. Steve J

  2. Well now I know the story behind the pink flamingos! I have seen them all over town but I was not sure why they were moving, and how they were moving. What a great way to have some fun raising money for such a great cause. You both have done such a wonderful job raising your beautiful daughter Eden. Your faith in God and the strength that He has given to both of you is so incredible! God has you all in the palm of His hand! So rest well knowing that He has given Eden the best parents ever, the both of you. He picked you, that is why you are the best parents, because He knew just what Eden would need in her life, especially now! We will continue to pray for all of you! Rochelle

  4. Hi Selena, Kurt, & Eden,
Your updates are always so interesting and positive, we continue to pray everyday that Eden will have a complete recovery and will not have any bad side effects from the treatment. We also pray for Mom and Dad that they will have strength to go through all of this will Eden. Sounds like she enjoys the outdoors, and we have been having some beautiful weather for her to be out. Except for this weekend with all the rain. We had a big storm last night. It runied our field day for our last day of school today.
    Have a good day.
Love, Uncle Ardyce & Aunt Nancy

  5. Kurt-

Your name came up last week at our monthly Environmental Meeting in Clinton. Unfortanately it was paired with the news of Eden. Thanks so much for putting up these posts and letting us know that all of you are doing well despite "this thing called cancer".

I just want to let you know that we are all praying for all of you.

    Jaci
